We all love the warmer weather. The sun on our bodies, long hours of daylight and warm temperatures. It’s great for getting outside, getting some vitamin D in our system and improving our moods.

One thing that we do need to stay aware of though, is our hydration levels.

Hydration is fundamental to human life. You need to be keeping your hydration levels up if you want to maintain good energy, good health and stay fit.

Of course, working out in the heat can drain us. We sweat more than usual and we need to make sure we are actively replacing lost fluids.

The urine test is the simplest way to check your hydration levels. Simply look at the colour, if it is see-through, you are well hydrated. The darker it is, the more dehydrated you are.

To replace lost fluids, you should drink pure water (squeeze in some fresh lemon, lime, or orange juice if you want to flavour). Especially while working out, make sure you keep hydrated. Don’t wait until you’re thirsty to drink. By then you are usually already dehydrated.

Pre-emptively keep your hydration up to make sure you stay energetic, avoid headaches, lethargy, and the other effects of dehydration.
